There’s a myth going around in the real estate world that selling your home during the holidays isn’t ideal. But I’m here to advocate the opposite. Selling your home during the holidays can actually be a much smoother and quicker process than you think. In addition, there's always a market for ocean close homes in sunny South Orange County, and contrary to popular belief, this process won’t take away from enjoying the holiday cheer that’s filling the atmosphere. Here are some tricks and tips to help you sell your Dana Point home this holiday season.

1. Buyers are More Motivated During the Holidays – If there’s one thing you want when you’re selling your home, its motivated buyers. Listing your home during the holiday is going to weed out buyers who aren’t serious, which is actually what you want. A buyer that’s motivated is more willing to make a fair offer in hopes of getting into their new home before the holiday ends. On top of that, lenders tend to be slower at this time of year and they’re more motivated to get your loan processed before the end of year as well.

2. Stage Your Home – Selling your home during the holidays means that you get to use the emotional appeal of the holidays to your advantage. By stagingyour home for open houses and private viewings, you’re allowing potential buyers to visualize what it would feel like for them to spend the holidays in that home like it was their own. The holidays are already an emotional time of year, so staging your home for the holidays is only going to make your home more appealing to buyers.

3. Target Relocating Families – There are always going to be people that are going to need to relocate, and they usually start looking to do so before the start of the new year. If you decide not to list your home during the holidays, you’re missing out on the people that are very motivated to purchase and have a small window to do so. As mentioned above, people that are looking to purchase during the holiday are much more motivated than at other times of year. And people who are relocating are even more motivated because they are usually on a very tight timeline. Take advantage of the fact that there is very little inventory during the holidays.
